Chessboxing Newsletter | Steph’s Packed Punch
If you want to save money on your mother’s day gift, you know which terrible 80’s TV show they’re bringing back (it’s Challenge Anneka) or your following The Big Poo Review (yes that really was an episode) you were probably watching Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4 last Friday week. Rubbing shoulder with D-listers like Denise Van Outen, Alan Johnson and turd experts alike, three of CBN’s finest demonstrated the sport to a national audience and even managed to get Steph in the ring as well. The show got in on the St Patrick’s Day bashing and included a Guinness cake shaped like a leprechaun’s hat, a full troop of Irish dancers and Steph herself showing Flatly-eque skills during the introduction of the show.
The show also included Anneka Rice running through the set looking for Steph’s Packed Lunch and cracking jokes about sound man Dave’s massive boom. CBN’s Gavin Paterson was plucky enough to chat on set with the jump-suited heart throb, “When I was 10 I watched you paint Happisburgh lighthouse in Norfolk, it could do with another lick of paint to be honest.” Rice replied, “Well that’s lovely dear, in my eyes you’ll always be a 10 year old boy, what the f*^k is chessboxing?”
